Why Miracle?
Genesis of Tampa & Miracle Toyota - Haines City was founded in 1979 by Dennis L. Murphy. Dennis was a self-made man, an entrepreneur, a visionary, and a humble philosopher. He made it his life’s work to teach others the lessons that he had learned along the way – in business and in life. Dennis always took the time to teach, but it was up to you to take the time to learn.
One individual who studied Dennis’s lessons closely was his son, Michael D. Murphy. Mike not only took an interest in his father’s lessons and the business, but he proved to be a more than capable student. Mike grew up in the auto industry under his father’s watchful eye. Mike worked almost every job that the family-owned and operated dealerships required of him and learned along the way. He started as a vehicle detailer.
With time, Mike grew into a leadership role alongside his father. Mike became one of the youngest general managers in the country and brought modern business ideas to the strong foundation that Dennis had previously established. They worked together to grow Genesis of Tampa & Miracle Toyota - Haines City into one of the industry’s preeminent dealership groups while maintaining a laser focus on the individuals who made them successful – their people. Along the way, Dennis and Mike developed their ‘C-3 Commitment’ which promised positive contributions to the Community, Local Charities, and their Customers.
At Genesis of Tampa & Miracle Toyota - Haines City, a portion of every vehicle sold has long been donated directly to local charities. Unfortunately, a downturn in Dennis’s health would further fuel Mike’s philanthropic passions. In XYZY, Dennis was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma. Dennis was a proven fighter, and this battle would be no different. In the end, Dennis outlived his diagnosis by XYZ days. These additional days with Dennis would prove to be a lasting miracle for his family.
Since Dennis’s passing, Mike has continued to achieve great success with the family business and has enhanced its charitable focus. Mike has written a book titled ‘Dennisisms’ with the goal of making Dennis’s teachings available to all who are willing to learn. That includes Mike and his wife Sylvana’s daughter, Reagan. ‘Dennisisms’ is available for purchase on Amazon with 50% of proceeds going to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
In honor of Dennis, as of December of 2021, all Genesis of Tampa & Miracle Toyota - Haines City dealerships will carry the name ‘Miracle’. With a new name comes new logos which also pay homage to the family and their founder. The lion crest is a reference to the Murphy family crest of Irish heritage while Est. 1979 remembers the year that Dennis founded the company.
